CO 80203-2273
Deaz Mr. Berry:
Mined Land
Reclamation Otvision
Re: Minor Revision 901, Clarification of Vegetation Monitoring, Permit C-81-071
CYCC wishes to confirm previous discussions with the Division concerning vegetation monitoring
and the use of blocks for final bond release purposes. Each block would lump together various
parcels which possess similar seeding dates and the same designated postmining land use. Each
block would contain a maximum of 50 sampling transacts and each of the reference azeas will contain
15 transacts, regardless of sample adequacy. This will serve to establish an upper sampling limit
for those azeas which have a high degree of variability, and will allow CYCC to complete necessary
sampling.
CYCC also wishes to change from production sampling by species to production sampling by life
form, with only alfalfa being sampled at the specie level on pastureland, as the 75% relative
production by a single species limit was established with the alfalfa in mind. The rangeland species
diversity would be unaffected, as this standard is based on relative percent composition which is
determined by cover sampling. Cover sampling by species would remain unchanged to allow for
diversity assessment.
c~rpRUs
