Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
I am requesting your assistance in the review of Minor Revision No. 47 (MR-47) for the Bowie No. 2
Mine. In MR-47, Bowie is proposing to construct a light use road and drill pad behind the uppermost
bench. Bowie intends to use this drill site to construct araised-bore vent shaft from the B-Seam mine
workings up to the D-Seam mine workings, but not up to the surface. The existing vent shaft will
connect the D-seam ventilation up to the surface. The proposed vent shaft submittal will come in later.
Topsoil will be stripped and placed at a new topsoil stockpile location, on top of the B-Seam mine
excess material storage stockpile. An extension of an existing culvert will be installed for drainage
above the proposed new road. Most of the disturbance for this proposed project will take place in an
area that already has been disturbed by previous mining operations.
Attached is one complete copy of the revision. Bowie would like to start the project very soon. If you
could get your response back to me by this Friday, I would appreciate it. If you need any additional
information, please let me know. Thanks for your help!
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word/bowie2/mr47memo 1
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
