• <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes that an application to <br />renew a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining and reclamation <br />operations submitted by Twentymile Coal Company for the Foidel Creek Mine be <br />approved with conditions. <br />The Foidel Creek Mine operation is located in Routt County, approximately 23 <br />miles southwest of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The mine is an underground <br />mine with an anticipated maximum production capacity of 3.5 million tons per <br />year, The coal to be mined is privately and federally owned, and the surface <br />to be affected is privately owned. The permit area encompasses approximately <br />74,563.0 acres in Sections 7, 8, and 9, T4N, R86W: Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, <br />7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33, TSN, R86W; <br />Sections 32 and 33, T6N, R86W; and Sections 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 34, 35, and <br />36, TSN, R87W. <br />This proposed approval decision is based on a finding that the proposed <br />operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal <br />Mining Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101, et seg., and the regulations <br />promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision including stipulations, are on file for public <br />inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, <br />Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203 and at the <br />County Clerk's Office in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Persons with an <br />interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a <br />formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed <br />decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days of the initial <br />publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable <br />specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed <br />decision. <br />
