Catrany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 15, 2005, an application to renew an existing <br />permit to conduct coal mining operations at the McClane Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes <br />of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the <br />Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Central Appalachia Mining, LLC, has submitted an application for renewal of a valid existing permit to conduct <br />coal mining and reclamation for its McClane Canyon Mine, Permit No. C-1980-004. McClane Canyon Mine is an <br />operating underground mine on land located approximately 20 miles north of Loma, Colorado. The current permit <br />will expire on July 6, 2006. The application requests successive renewal of the permit for an additional five year <br />permit term. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 15, 16, 21, 22, 27, and 28, T7S, R102W, 6th PM, all in Garfield County. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Howard Canyon & <br />Garvey Canyon. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder, P.O. <br />Box 20,000, Grand Junction, CO 81501, and at the Division office. Written comments or request for an informal <br />conference should be directed to the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, within thirty (30) days after the last public notice in the The Daily Sentinel.
