Kerr Coal Company
uses 2,4; D and Tordon for weed control. The estimated cost for application is $138.55/acre (see JRS
memo to 2003 MT review, dated August 20, 2003). Assume weed management on 10% of the
revegetated areas.
Mine area: 386.77 acres 10%=38.7 acres
Loadout: I l.7 acres 10%=1.2% acres
Marc Mine area was reclaimed in 1996. Assume one last herbicide application at the reclaimed mine
area, 38.7 acres x $138.55/acre = $5361.88.
The Loadout was reclaimed in 1999. Assume three herbicide applications prior to final bond release.
(1.2 acres x $138.55/acre) x 3= $498.78
Mine area +Loadout weed control= $5860.66
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Ac[ive and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
