Long <br /> Orv~sron Director <br />Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-96-083) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 8 (TR-8) <br />Add West Pod to Mine Plan and Up Date Mine Plan Map and Subsidence Information <br />Dear Mr. Roberts: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 18, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Buwie <br />No.2 Mine was considered complete for the puiposesof filing. The revision was submittedby Bowie Resources Limited. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations ini[iate from this date of filing. <br />Approval ofthistechnicalrevisionwouldallowmininginthewestsectionofthealreadyapprovedpermitarea. Mining would <br />remain conventional roam and pillar and there would not be any increase in the production rate. No Federal coal is involved. <br />In addition, [he mine plan map is being updated with this technical revision to show the current extent of mining.and the <br />proposed addition to the mine plan. Finally, the subsidencesectionofthepermitapplicationisbeingupdatedtoincludemining <br />through the fault that will need to occur in order to access the proposed west mine section. <br />The undergroundcoal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles northeast of Paonia, CDlorado. The permit <br />aria is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11; 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer, <br />Delta, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division <br />of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to <br />comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter.
