At this hearing
Greg Lewicki, a consultant representing Big River Minerals an Indiana
company, expressed this company's interest in possibly permitting and
reopening the mine.
Winter is approaching and, since the Division cannot begin reclamation of
the Coal Gulch mine until the Spring, there will be some delay in the
Division's making its claim of the reclamation bond. Should Big River
Minerals wish to make sincere and timely efforts to proceed with
permitting the site during this interim, the opportunity exists for them
to do so. However, should significant environmental problems arise that
are not addressed, or if Big River Minerals should decide not to proceed
with permitting the Division will immediately submit a draft on the letter
of credit.
Enclosed is the Board Order to require forfeiture of the performance bond
for the Coal Gulch Mine. If you have any questions, please feel free to
call me.
Sincerely,
Randall P.
