Dept of N~tunl Resources
This is to request a minor revision to the Mt. Gunnison No. 1
Underground Mine Mining and Reclamation Plan approved as part of CMLRB
Permit C-007-80 issued in July, 1981. West Elk Coal Company (WECC),
operators of the Mt. Gunnison Mine wish to~,„construct a second coal
crusher adjacent to the existing crusher, loea'ted at the breaker building
as shown on attached Drawing 001. A'schematic of the proposed crusher
is shown in Drawing 002. If any substantial changes are made to the
schematic a new drawing will be submitted to you.
No additional conveyors will be installed for the new crusher since the
existing 1000 TPH portal to breaker conveyor (mine conveyor) will serve
both crushers. Coal will be divided between the crushers via a pantleg
chute off of the mine conveyor. Coal from both crushers will be
conveyed to the storage silos via the existing 1000 TPH coal silo
conveyor. Maximum throughput capacity of the new crusher is estimated
to be 650 TPH. However, combined throughput of the two crushers will
not increase from that currently designated for the present crusher (500
TPH) since the two crushers will not operate in tandem. Only one
crusher at a time will operate. The new crusher will be enclosed as
well as equipped with a water/surfactant spray to minimize dust
emissions.
The crusher will be constructed on footings on previously disturbed
surface. Thus no additional disturbance will be necessary. All runoff
from the area drains into the present drainage ditch on the inside of
the access road and into Sedimentation Pond No. MB 2.
Demolition costs for this crusher were estimated in the same manner as
used for determining demolition costs of other surface facilities at Mt.
Gunnison. That is, demolition costs were estimated to be 15% of the
construction labor costs. Salvage value of the material was not
included. Since the area upon which the new crusher will be located was
already included in the acreage to be reclaimed in our original bonding
calculations, no additonal costs for reclamation of this area are
included in this application. Total demolition costs for the new
crusher are estimated to be $15,000.
4NACON04 Mine rats Cam pany n a On~sion of ApanecP¢M1l map Company AMCO~d000~• IB BJI
