Getches, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
August 19, 1986
Mr. Tomrtpr Raye
Raye and Associates
976 Welch Court
Golden, Colorado 80401
Re: Technical Revision No. 2, Grassy Gap Hydrology Monitoring Reduction,
File No. C-81=039
Dear Mr. Raye:
The Division has reviewed the hydrology data submitted pursuant to the above
referenced revision, and has concluded that a reduction in hydrology
monitoring is warranted. Enclosed is a memo from Candy Thompson which
outlines the Division's proposed reductions in sampling sites, sample
frequency and parameters to be tested. In addition to these changes, the
Division would require that an annual report be submitted by December 31 of
each year. This report would include the previous year's data and a narrative
analysis of that data with respect to predicted impacts of the mining
operation. The data should be reduced and graphically represented to show
changes over time wherever possible. A map which depicts springs and seeps
detected in the annual survey would also be included, with approximate flow
rates noted.
If this proposed monitoring is acceptable, please respond in writing and the
Division will formally approve the revision. If you have any disagreements,
comments, or questions, please contact myself or Ms. Thompson.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~~
Jeffrey Deckler
Reclamation Specialist
JD/vj r
cc: Mark Korb
Steamboat Springs, f,0 80477
2972E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
