Mr. Henry Barbe
March 8, 1994
Page 3
feet, the factors of safety did not change. When the groundwater table was imposed
at ten feet from surface, the only slope to have a factor of safety below 1.3 was the
lower portion of Profile D:D, which had a factor of safety of 1.27 for a worst case
scenario which will not occur.
Conclusion and Recommendations
It is our opinion that the original stability analysis, submitted for review, is
correct and does not warrant change. In addition, the final material storage bench
design, even with an extremely high groundwater table, is still the best design suited
for this northwest facing slope. If you have any questions or require further
clarification, please do not hesitate to call me.
S' erely,
1`~
Loren A. Jalbert
Project Geological Engineer
Charles C. Rehn, P.E.
General Manager
Salt Lake City Branch
CCR/sbr
