La hhead <br />f.ewuvr Direuor <br />M;cn,rl s w~ti <br />Division Dveuor <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section I l6, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on September 10, 1998, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Basin Resources, Inc. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Re¢ulations <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />This revision to the permit requests approval to remove sedimentation ponds 003 and 004 at the mine site. The <br />applicant has presented data which indicates the reclaimed areas do not contribute sediment in excess of sediment <br />levels from comparable undisturbed areas adjacent to the mine. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />In all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas Counry Coutthouse, <br />200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional information or <br />to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street. <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (l5) days of this letter.
