Long <br /> Drvrsion OveUOr <br />Re: Bowie Mine No. 1 (Permit No. C-81-038) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 31 (TR-31) <br />Incorporate Revised Air Emissions Permits into Permit <br />Dear Ms. Stiles: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Ststutes, that on April 26, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie Mine <br />No. 1 was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The approval of this revision would incorporate revised air emissions permits (construction permits) into the Bowie No. 1 <br />permit for the [rain loadou[ and for the mine site itself. The revised air emissions permits have increased the maximum <br />production limit at the train loadou[ from 1.7 million tons per year to 3.0 million tons per year. The air emissions permit <br />production limit at the mine site remains at one million tons per year. No new land will be disturbed. There will not be any <br />changes to the facilities or the hydrologic protection system. There will be an increase in the water consumptive use a[ the train <br />loadou[. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles north of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area <br />is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, 3, 10-I5, 22 ?5, Township 13 South, Range 92 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections S-8, 17-19, 29-32, Township 13 Sauth, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of [he technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th R Palmer, <br />Delta, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or [o provide written comments, contact the Division <br />of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80303, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to <br />comply with regulatory time frames, we request [hat comments be submitted within fifteen (1 S) days of this letter. However, <br />comments may be recieved at [he Division within thirty (30) days of the publication of [he public notice of the completeness <br />(or this Technical Revision.
