Long <br />Division Director <br />The Division of !vtinerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title .34, Article 33, Section l ! 6, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on April 26. 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie Mine <br />No. 1 was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The approval of [his revision would incorporate revised air emissions permits (construction permits) into the Bowie No. I <br />permit for the train loadout and for the mine site itself. The revised air emissions permits have increased the maximum <br />production limit at the train loadout from 1.7 million tons per year [0 3.0 million tons per year. The air emissions permit <br />production limit at the mine site remains at one million tons per year. No new land will be disturbed. There will not be any <br />changes [o the facilities or the hydrologic protection system. There will be an increase in the water consumptive use at the train <br />loadout. <br />The under~ound coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles north of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area <br />is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections I, 2, 3, 10-I5, 22-25, Township I3 South, Range 92 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections ~-8, 17-19, 29-32, Township 13 South. Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th k Palmer. <br />Delta, CO 81416, and at [he Division office. In order for us to <br />comply with regulatory time frames, we request [hat comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of [his letter. However, <br />comments may be recieved at the Division within thirty (30) days of the publication of the public notice of the completeness <br />for this Technical Revision.
