The pipeline corridor housed a plastic pipe carrying discharge from the portal to the CDPHE
discharge paint in the ephemeral channel of Lone Pine Gulch. The sub-area consisted of
the corridor leading down the slope from the portal, and the discharge point. The latter
consisted of the discharge pipe, a stairway for access to the discharge point for sampling,
and a structure housing a flow meter. The upper pipeline area was never excavated, but a
"brush crush" utilized by which a dozer bladed off the taller vegetation. This area has never
shown any erosion or off-site sediment transport during its operational period. Since the
removal of the pipeline the oak brush has grown back to the point where it is barely
distinguishable from the undisturbed hillside. The grading of the corridor to AOC was fine
and there was no erosion along the margins of the corridor. All the structures have been
removed, including the substation (and its gravel pad), the stairs and flowmeter structure.
As previously noted, a demonstration will be required in the permit to continue managing this
area as an SAE. utilizing USLE with the present vegetative cover.
