_2_
Mining in the requested area will be strictly development work
with no secondary extraction. Overburden depth will range from 900
to 2000 feet, therefore, no surface effects will result from the
proposed development work. Coal recovery will be 177 in the slope
entries and 507 in the panel entries.
Existing surface facilities will be used and no additional
surface disturbance will be necessary for the proposed underground
development work. Surface land use ("unimproved rangeland") in the
affected area will remain unchanged.
Due to the depth of overburden (900' - 2000') and the fact:
that development mining will be directed away from North Thompson
Creek, the proposed work will have no affect on surface waters in
the mine area.
Groundwater considerations have previously been addressed in
Vol.l, page 20 and appendix G of permit No.77-313. Additional
information has been presented in the Final Permit Application
which is currently under-going review.
If I may be of further assistance in your consideration of
this proposed revision please contact me a~t the mine office.
C' Y Q ~F~~~ 2
Craig A. Sherwood
Environmental Coordinator
