Adequacy Review Response CF&.I Canon Dolomite Quarry File No. 77-376, Amendment No. 1 This response addresses concerns of the Division in the order that the issues were raised in the letter to CF&I Steel Corporated dated July 13, 1982. Therefore, these responses are numbered 1 through 3. 1) The final reclamation plan for the quarry is as follows: Office & Shop Area - Upon completion of mining, the office and shop will be dismantled. Salvageable items will be removed from the site. Nonsalvageable items (concrete footers, etc.) will be buried in a waste disposal area or other area on site that would be acceptable to CF&.I and the Division. Areas of overcompaction will be ripped or otherwise loosened. • Minor grading will be accomplished to blend the disturbed area with the surrounding undisturbed area. Revegetation will be as per Exhibit E of the existing plan. Roads - CF&I intends to leave the roads as it feels they are a valuable asset to the property and would be beneficial for the post-mining land uses of rangeland and wildlife habitat. Upon completion of mining, steep areas of the roads (over 8~) will have water bars constructed at spacings of no more than 300 feet. Waste Rock Disposal Sites (existing) - The large boulders in Diablo and Echo Canyons will be left as they now exist. The fines that currently are along the south side of Echo Canyon will be removed when the quarry floor reaches the same elevation as the floor of Echo Canyon, or they will be stabilized with vegetation. No benches are planned for the existing disposal sites. Waste rock disposal sites (proposed) - At this time, CFFcI does not plan to bench the fines disposal area (proposed area No. 1), as the side slopes are not exces- sively long. Revegetation will be accomplished in accordance with the existing plan. • Revegetation Plan - CF&I does not feel that the addition of Pinon and Juniper to the planting mix would be
