M-77-560
12/12/94
page 2
4. Reclamation of the pond margins in the west area wi:Ll follow
the existing plan for the original permit area. This will
therefore include planting of woody species. This needs to be
specifically stated, and include species, quantitic>s, size,
etc. Is the dotted symbol on the map the water level or a
line of trees?
5. You have delineated the separate areas on the reclamation plan
map which will be reclaimed differently. The western portion
of the expansion (batch area) will be left for commer~~ial use,
and not be topsoiled or planted. Please clarify what
treatment the pond banks within that portion are to receive.
My suggestion would be to reclaim all pond banks.
6. The three large stockpiles to the north are shown t:o remain
after reclamation. Please state what reclamation is to occur
on those surfaces to stabilize or revegetate them.
7. The 30-inch discharge flume at the north side of the~aast pond
is to be removed. Please provide the specifications necessary
for calculating its removal cost, ie., materials, dinnensions,
distance to disposal site, etc. Is it to be buried or hauled
away? What material, and how much volume, is involved in
filling the discharge ditch?
8. The culverts installed for the slurry between the existing
east pit and the expansion area must be bonded for their
removal. Please provide similar information for these as that
requested in item ,f7.
9. What are to be the active pit slopes during mining? For bond
amount purposes, the volume of material to be moved for
grading to final slopes must be known. '
10. Please calculate a revised total bond amount for the zimendment
areas. Include in it all the information requested above.
Try to either separate the amounts by task, by land area, or
by stage (based on years). The total amount of reclamation
work and relevant costs should be estimated, based oi~ maximum
overall disturbance.
If desired, however, you may commit to phased reclamation.
1~;'This will require you to explain the separate stages of mining
I ; and reclamation, including an estimate of when each will
occur. The phased bond must be adequate to aver the
1 necessary reclamation at any point of maximum disturbance. It
1 must be adequate for all work required to bring they site to
its stated final land use, from any point of the operation
within the stages to be bonded at that time.
