The seeding rates aze based upon approximately 80 live seeds per square foot. If
drilled, then the rate would be about SO live seed per square foot. These rates are suitable
for this medium and this site considering the moisture regime and pattern.
Periodic monitoring will occur during the growing season on each newly-
revegetated area so that azeas that exhibit any weakness of seeding success or nutritional
deficiencies can be identified. If low seeding success is noted, soil samples will be taken
and fertilizer added as indicated by the soil test results. Reseeding will be done in the
following spring.
Reclamation Timetable. The reclamation phases aze an ongoing part of the
clay stockpiling process. As mentioned eazlier there will always be less than S8 8S acres
ofdisturbed land. As mining is completed in Stega3 the final Stages, the last SO 40
acres will be backfilled, sloped and topsoiled from the existing stockpiles. This process
will remove all surface disturbances. Revegetation will complete the cycle. Seeding will
be completed prior to the fvst growing season after mining is complete.
Reclamation Phases
Approximate
Phases Years Acres
IA & 3 5 211
1A&2B S
2A & 2B S
2A & 1B 5
1B & lA 5
1B&3 S
Totals 30
166
36S
306
106
210
1,364
Draft Revision July 1999
16
