Cottony
Division Diredor
Natural Resource Trustee
After talking to Johanna Cramer, the only possibility I can find for explaining
the$1,546 difference between the bond release request amount ($10, 276) and
DMG's amount of bond listed in its database ($8,730) is that it is some how
related to the $1,746 difference of the previous Phase I/II request amount
($47,724) and the actual amount released then ($49,470).
Johanna confirms that no actual bond is on deposit. DMG called the $58,200-letter
of credit due and payable on 7/7/89, but later entered an agreement with the bank
allowing the bank to complete the reclamation in-lieu of paying the cash. $49,470
was released in SL-1, and at that time DMG asked the bank to submit a new letter
of credit for the $8,730 of remaining liability, but never received a new letter of
credit.
The only items remaining before I recommend my Findings document for approval
is 1) reconciliation of the bond release request amount, and 2) giving Karen
Hunzeker a site visit (which should happen Monday or Tuesday).
If we can't conclude the correct amount of the bond release amount by the
proposed decision deadline of August 3, 2004, then please request an extension
of the deadline. _
/~
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
Office of
Active and Inactive Mines
Colorado
Geological Survey
