LAKEW OOD BRICK AN ~LE~. • • PAGE 2
NOVEMBER 9, 1999
made by Steve and the lengths came from an airphoto he has. We used average heights and
slope rates, but feel that if there are errors they are on the long side, so the calculated costs
are adequate to cover actual conditions. The volumes in this table have been adjusted using
a uniform 1.23 swell factor.
The areas listed as needing recoiling are areas where the clay has been piled or the
bottom of the clay seam exposed and no vegetation grows (yellow). The cross hatched area
(///) is where grading, shaping and revegetation will be necessary. We have found that areas
where the upper layer is stripped, like in Stage A, does not need recoiling. The native
material is uniform from surface to bedrock and our experience has shown that if the azea is
fertilized prior to seeding the grasses will grow without having any finer material. This can
be observed on site in the area between the eastern pit run gravel pile and clay stock pile in
Stage B. This area was partially stripped in 1997, pit run gravel was then replaced in the
area. No seeding was done, yet the area has nearly blended back with surrounding condi-
tions where no disturbance has taken place.
We use the equipment cost factors in you estimate for the dozer, revegetation
equipment and the revegetation costs. The mobilization cost numbers were use and expanded
to handle the other pieces of equipment we thought would be needed to complete reclama-
tion. The cost for backfilling, shaping and ripping were estimated from the Cat handbook
and contractor cost estimating data for this area. We are svessing that this plan is an interim
reclamation plan and does not change the final plan as approved. We have maintained the 2h
to ]v slopes because, the slopes are stable at this rate and are consistent with the approved
reclamation plan.
A check for the $150.00 Technical Revision fee is attached. Should this Technical
Revision and bond evaluation be acceptable we will provide a second bond for the increase
above the $40,000 we currently have, this will be consistent with Rule 4[4.1(4)] since there
are two types of operations at the site. If you have any questions on the bond calculations
please call Steve at (303) 423-7297.
Sincerely,
Lakew Brick
~'~'~'~
homas nay
Vice President
enclosure
cc Environment, Inc,
Perry McKay
Charlie McKay
Albert Frei and Sons, Inc.
file
