Submittal of the T.R. was a
corrective action requirement due to the noted problems observed during the July 15, 1998 inspection.
As noted in the July 15, 1998 inspection report, several rill and gullies developed on the west side of the
terrace ouulope. Some sediments were washed out away from the toe of the slope. You were required tc
submit a technical revision to propose a plan to repay the erosional features and [o submit a proposal to
prevent future problems. Your submittal requests permission [o construct a substantial berm around the
outer perimeter of the base area to eliminate the subject erasion. Also, you requested that permission be
given to re-shape the base azea surface so as to direct water drainage to the north part of the base area
that will absorb all drainage water that occurs from all sources.
The plan you submitted is incomplete. You must submit a specific plan to repair the existing rills and
gullies. The plan must include the type of equipment you intend to use and the amount of dirt work that
will be required to repair the erosional features. In addition, you must submit more data regarding the
berm. What are the dimensions of the berm? Where will the bernt material come from? What kind of
equipment will you use to construct the berm? Will the bean be a permanent feature (part of the fmal
reclamation)? Will you place topsoil on the berm and revegetate it if it becomes a permanent feature?
You also state you will re-shape the base area surface so as tc direct water drainage tc [he north. How
will this be accomplished? Please provide specific information.
Finally, you intend to direct drainage to the north part of the base area Ihat will absorb all drainage water
that occurs from a!I sources. Will this involve a retention pond? If so, what are the dimensions of the
structure? How large, or small, is the watershed area? How much water (rainfall and snowmeh) do you
:uvicipale accumulating in the north pan nC dte base area? Submit adequate data to demonstrate that the
north part uC the base area will absorb all drainage water that occurs from all sources.
Please be advised that dre technical revision may be deemed inadequate, and your technical revision may
be denied on September 28, 1998, unless the above noted adequacy review items are addressed to the
satisfaction of the Division. If you need additional time to prepare and submit your msponse, please
submit a request fnr an extension of the decision due date, or waive your right to a 30-day decision,
