MANAGEMENT
RECEIVED
JUN 0 31999
" clon of Minerals & Geology
The estimated water depletion from the Bowie No. 1 Mine was last evaluated in 1993 (Ref
Volume 9A, Tab, Fish and Wildlife).
Technical revision number 29 is associated with the construction of the east ridge waste
disposal area. This action will increase the size of the gob pile sediment pond by 0.16
acres. Technical revision number 31 provides for an increase in production at the unit
train loadout to 3 million tons per year.
Enclosed is an updated analysis of water depletion at the Bowie No. 1 Mine which is based
on the assumptions that mine production will not exceed 1.0 million tons per year,
throughput at the loadout will not exceed 3.0 million tons per year and potential
evaporation will be realized from each sediment pond. The enclosed Windy Gap Process
analysis should be inserted into Volume 9A, Tab, Fish and Wildlife. Estimated
consumptive use at the Bowie No. 1 Mine is expected to decrease from 64.2 to 53.5 acre-
feet per year.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~~~
J.
