We were unable to determine from the application and map where the 2.93 reclaimed acres lie.
(See 13. By moving the existing pit boundary to the east a little over 300' will allow for more
gravel to be mined and the reclamation will be improved by creating mono level land. It will be a
natural slope also the 2.93 acres have been reclaimed. Allowing to stay under 10 acres.) I assumed
by this statement that the 2.93 acres was to the west. If this is the rase I did not see evidence of
reclamation sloping or seeding.
2. The "reclaimed" portion should be graded to 3:1 or better and native grass seed should be drilled
in with a mixture reccommended by the Morgan County Natural Resources Conservation Service.
3. There is a pile of old tires on the west side of the pit site. If this is on the site of the
'reclaimed' area it needs to be removed and disposed of properly. If it is being usod to hold soil
Urea topsoil should be hauled in, ground properly prepared and seed should be drilled in.
Any loss of soils and vegetation has a negative impact. on wildlife habitat.
If you have any questions regarding any of this information please call me at (970) 484-2836 Ext
322.
Sinc rel
Doerr
Acting Environmental Biologist
767
Post'it• Fax Nof
cc: File
Badde/Kroening
DFBARTMF.Nr oe NATURAL RBSOURCFS.
