Lachhead
6ecutive Duector
Michael B. Long
Dwi;~on Dueao~
TR-40, New Elk Mine,
The Division has completed review of Technical Revision (TR-40) for
the New Elk mine. Please respond to the following issues allowing
adequate time for Division review and approval prior to September
30, 1995.
1. All pages modified by revisions to the permit should have the
revision number somewhere on the page, similar to the date at
the bottom of the page. This will ensure more accurate
approval and subsequent filing .on revised pages. This applies
to TR-40 as well as all revised pages submitted in the future.
2. Some text discussion should be added to the permit which
discusses the plan to dispose of drilling fluids in the pond.
This discussion should be placed in the permit somewhere in
the vicinity of page 2.05-17.
3. Design and certification information for this pond is somewhat
limited currently in the approved permit. Appropriate design
information should be modified to represent the disposal of
additional material into the pond. Maximum volumes of solids
and the approximate length of time that this activity will be
occurring should be clearly stated.
If you have questions, please call me.
Since, ~ ,~
K A.
