<br /> <br />WHEREAS, Highway 24 is a major gateway and exit for our <br />community, leaving a lasting impression on all who pass by there; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the noise and dust from digging and crushing plus <br />exhaust fumes will have a negative impact on the natural and <br />recreational resources of our community; and <br />WHEREAS, this area is a valuable winter range for mule deer <br />and Bighorn sheep and that activities associated with mining and <br />hauling will adversely affect their migration route from Rampart <br />Range to Fountain Creek; and <br />WHEREAS, proposed truck routes and increased truck traffic <br />onto Highway 24 poses potential safety hazards for residents, <br />guests, and business travelers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CZTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLORADO SPRINGS: <br />That the City Council hereby opposes any mining operation <br />which would be detrimental to the safety and/or welfare of the <br />citizens and guests of Colorado Springs. <br />Dated at Colorado Springs, Colorado this day of <br />1989. <br />ATTEST: <br />Mayor <br />ty Clerk <br />
