NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes that an application to <br />renew a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining and reclamation <br />operations submitted by the Peabody Coal Co, Western Division for the Seneca <br />II Mine be approved with conditions. <br />The Seneca II operation is located in Routt County, approximately five miles <br />southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The mine is a surface mine with an anticipated <br />maximum production capacity of 600,000 tons per year. The coal to be mined is <br />owned by the United States, Colorado, and private parties, and the surface to <br />be affected is privately and state owned. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days <br />of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state <br />with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to <br />the proposed decision. <br />0160G <br />
