<br />• <br />HOLNAM, INC. <br />FORT COLLINS PLANT <br />LaPorte, Colorado <br />fNTRODUCTION <br />The following is in response to a letter from Allen Sorensen, Colorado State Division of <br />Minerals and Geology that was sent on 12/23/98 in regards to the pending Technical <br />Revision #003 on Permit #M-77-348, Boettcher Quarry, Holnam Inc., LaPorte, Colorado. <br />The following information was requested and is in addition to information submitted <br />earlier: <br />1. Complete Description of the CKD Disposal Plan and Facilities. <br />As permitted, the Boettcher Quarry is located as follows: <br />Description Section Township Prange <br />That portion of Sec. 17 bounded by the WS&S <br />Co. canal on the east and the outer toe of the <br />continuous overburden ridge on the west <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />8N <br /> <br />69W <br />W/2 W/2 8 8N 69W <br />E/2 SW/2 8 8N 69W <br />W/2 W/2, W2 E/2 W/2 5 8N ~59W <br />E/2 E/2 E/2 6 8N 69W <br />E/2 W/2 NE/4 20 8N 69W <br />W/2 NW/4, W/2 E/2 NW/4, W/2 E/2 SW/4 32 9N ~59W <br />W/2 SW/4 32 9N ~59W <br />E/2 E/2 E/2 31 9N ~59W <br />W/2 29 9N ~59W <br />E/2 E/2 30 9N ~59W <br />S W/4 20 9N ~59 W <br />The Technical Revision will affect approximately 306 acres of area in Sections 1 "7, 8, 5, <br />6, 31, and 32 of the above stated legal description. <br />Disposal of CKD into the Quarry azea at Holnam's Fort Collins Plant began in 1580. <br />Volumes disposed of in the quarry area since that time is as follows: 1980 - 199 <br />approximately 42,160 cubic yards of CKD; 1996 - 3,000 cubic yards (minimal due to a <br />major modification to the kiln system; 1997 - 1998 approximately 71,000 per ye:u for a <br />total of 819,560 cubic yards of CKD disposed of in the quarry as of 1/1/99. It is <br />estimated, based on current production volumes, CKD volumes will remain constant at <br />• 56,000 cu. yd. per year throughout the remaining life of the quarry. (Currently estimated <br />a[ 70 years.) <br />
