It does not appeaz that the excavation of aggregate materials at this site will
have a significant impact to resident or migrating wildlife. Additionally, there are no threatened or endangered
wildlife species known to occupy or visit this area. We would like to offer the following recommendations for your
consideration.
For creek banks or adjoining pastures that are impacted, we recommend topsoil be stockpiled and seeded with a
temporary seed mix until it is ready for use in the reclamation process. Control of noxious weeds during the mining
and reclamation phases should be actively pursued to prevent infestation on site. It is preferable that the creek bank
or pasture azeas be reclaimed as native short grass prairie, coupled with grading to match surrounding topography. A
selection of various seed mixes can be found in consultation with your local Natural Resource Conservation Service
(MRCS) office. It might also be beneficial to fence out livestock until sufficient vegetative cover is achieved.
Thank you for the oppomntity to comment. Please free to contact District Wildlife Manager, Warren Cummings, at
(719) 775-2025 if you have atry questions or require additional information.
Sinc~erpe/lya,,,,,, ,~P~Y~y
Shaun Deeney /
Area Wildlife Manager
xc: file
W, Cummings
D.
