In the discussion the
concern of survival of transplanted trees was of top priority. The District board agreed that
planting of three, 3 ft. seedling trees to replace each 12 inch diameter tree removed would be
more likely to provide the desired tree cover at the end of the reclamation period. The District
feels that the mine operator needs to insure that 75 % of planted trees survive.
With the above mentioned changes the District is in agreement with the reclamation plan.
If you have any questions please feel free to call Don Smith President Mount Sopris Soil
Conservation District, or me at 970-945-5494.
Sincerely,
~_. r_~_
Dennis Davidson
District Conservationist
Natural Resource Conservation Service
Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
Phone 970.945.5494
TM Natural Ruourcaa Gonasrvatlon 9arvlca works hanAan-0anA with
lha Amarlcan paopla to wnaarva natural raaouresa on prlvala lantla AN EOUAL OPPROTUNITY PROVIDER AND EMPLOYER
