The
proposed revision will reduce the bond amount from $393,000 to
$115,000. The sites for which the bond reduction is being
requested are the North Thompson Creek Mine Site and the unit train
loadout. The mine site is located in Pitkin County in Sections 34
and 35, T. 8 S., R. 89 W., 6th P.M. The loadout is located in
Garfield County in Section 6, T. 8 S., R. 88 W. and Sections 20,
29, 30 and 32, T. 7 S., R. 88 W., 6th P.M. These areas can be
located on the U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute Stony Ridge, Colorado and
Carbondale, Colorado quadrangle maps respectively.
The mine site and unit train loadout were contoured and vegetated
during 1987. Vegetation studies performed during 1991 and 1992
have demonstrated the vegetation on the reclaimed mine site and
unit train loadout has successfully established in accordance with
the approved reclamation plan. The bond reduction is being
requested on approximately 41 acres at the mine site and
approximately 33 acres at the unit train loadout.
A copy of the proposed technical revision is available for public
inspection at the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder's Office,
Garfield County Courthouse, Glenwood Springs, CO and at the offices
of the Division. Written comments or objection to the proposed
revision, and a request for a public hearing or informal conference
may be submitted to and additional information obtained from the
Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman St., Room 215,
Denver, Co. 80203-2273, phone (303) 866-3567.
