The "East Ridge Waste Pile" configuration. proposed by BRL in ~rR-29 is
a hybrid of t`~e original "East Ridge Pile Conceptual 1~eslgr," anti "4g Year Pile
ConceKrtuai Desiyn".
The JVest Ridge Waste Pile is nearing its ultimate volume cf ?ti,1,;>CO cubic ~pards.
The pz~,t fifteen year's performance experience has din;castrated thaat the design
parameters and construction specifications of the bVest Ric?~~e 1Naste Pile have
resulted in a stable: structure. The current TR-29 proposes to cons?n~ct the cast
Ridge Waste Pile, with an additional proposed storage voiumi; i~t X10,000 cubic
yards. The design is based upon the same mecharncsi parameters and design and
construction specifications applied to the design and constructon of the bti'est
Ridge Waste Pile. Because the foundational rock and sciis and the ~roaste materials
are consistent with that of the earlier West Ridge Pile, tF!ese assumptions appear to
he appiop~iaie.
