Notice of Proposed Decision
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology has issued a proposed decision 'to Approve Bond Release
Application No. 5 (SL-5) for the Golden Eagle Mine, Permit No. C-1981-013. The mine is operated by
Basin Resources, Inc. under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979.
The bond release application was submitted by Basin Resources, Inc. on July 8, 2005. The azeas of proposed
bond release aze known as the Apache Canyon ventilation shafts. The post mining land use for these two
small areas is industrial. Due to coal bed methane activities, the road to these azeas has been widened to
include portions of the reclaimed vent shaft areas. If 100% release is approved, $9,939.65 would be released
of a total current bond of $151,832.14. The affected area is located in Las Animas County, approximately 20
miles west of Trinidad, Colorado.
Copies of the proposed decision are available for review at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the office of the Las Animas
County Clerk and Recorder.
Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request an adjudicatory hearing
regazding this proposed decision. Requests for a hearing must be made in writing within thirty (30) days of
the fast publication of this notice, and shall state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and
objections to the proposed decision.
