Greatest ~rn for nggative impacts to these wintering populations
would generally be in the months of December through April.
Also of concern is the access to Gray Pit Art located in sec. 36 of T49N, RSW. The stream and
riparian area at this location needs to be preserved.
Upon reviewing the proposals for the Gray gravel pits (#18t Ar2), we would like to recommend the
following:
1) Access roads and mining operations should not have a negative impact on any streams or
riparian areas (no impact to motive vegetation or water quality and normal flows)
2) Vehicle speeds should be kept to a ma:ritwmn speed of 15 MPH on the access roads
3) Consider ceasing operations during the winter motrchs to minimize impacts to wittering
deer and elk (Iaecember through April)
4) Re-vegetation of disturbed areas should be consistem with the native vegetation components
that are currently on site
These recommendations are as we had discussed on the phone, and will be the recommendations made
to the Colmty Planning Commission as the applications come to us for review.
Call the if you have any questions.
cc: Mike McLain
Ron Har[han
District Wildlife Manager
Colorado Division of Wildlife
OEPAR7MENT Of NATURAL RESOURCES, Cxag E.
