I. INTRODUCTION
Purpose of this Document
This document presents the findings of compliance and the proposed decision of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology ("Division") for a Phase III (final) bond release at the Chimney
Rock Mine. The Division file number for the bond release application is SL-O5. The mining and
reclamation permit number is C-81-023. These findings and the decision aze made in response to a
request for the release of a reclamation bond at the Chimney Rock Mine. The bond release request
was submitted to the Division by Kaiser Ventures, LLC (Kaiser), the mine operator and permittee.
Kaiser is requesting release of all bond the Division holds for the Chimney Rock Mine. The bond
release request is for $103,200. The azea for which bond release is being requested (the bond release
azea) is all of the disturbed lands in the permit that have not previously undergone final bond
release. The bond release area comprises 94 acres within the 170-acre permit area.

Location of Bond Release Area
The Chimney Rock Mine is located in Archuleta County, Colorado, 20 miles southwest of the town
of Pagosa Springs. The bond release azea is located in Section 30, Township 34 North, Range 4
West, New Mexico Principal Meridian.
