Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 17 Page 3 003-2203
Geomembrane panels M-637 through M-654 were deployed, seamed; and pressure tested by Poly-Flex.
Destructive fusion seam samples DF-172 through DF-174 and extrusion seam samples DX-33 were
marked and removed. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam peel and shear tests of these samples were
not performed during this reporting period.
A map of the area worked is provided in Attachment C.
Phase IVc
Ames continued limited cut and placed the material in temporary stockpiles within the limits of the
Phase IVc area.
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase N earthworks, All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications. Removal of oversized or deleterious material from all fill
areas was observed. Golder observed SF placement in Phase IV for materials, lift thickness,
moisture content, and compactive effort.
Golder observed re-compaction of LVSCF in the Phase IVb PSSA sump after rainfall flooded the
area. The HVSCS riser foundations were compacted and re-graded. Golder CQA monitors
performed four nucleaz moisture-density tests (LVSCNb-Ola through LVSCNb-04a) on.LV$CF re-
compacted within the Phase IVb PSSA sump. The tests performed met the requirements of the
specifications and the nuclear moisture-density results summary is presented in Attachment B.
Golder visually observed the placement and grading of LVSCF in the Phase IVb PSSA area. Golder
CQA monitors (one monitor per dozer when dozers are greater than 50 ft apart) observed LVSCF
placement and verified minimum thickness of 3 feet.
Golder visually observed the placement of DCF in the Phase IVb PSSA area. Golder CQA monitors
(one monitor per dozer when dozers are greater than 50 ft apart) observed DCF placement and
verified minimum thickness oft feet.
Golder observed anchor trench excavation in the Phase IVb PSSA and OSA for proper location and
dimension (2' wide by 3' deep). Anchor trench excavation met or exceeded the requirements of the
specifications. Golder observed anchor trench bac_kfill in the Phase IVb PSSA for lift thickness and
compaction.
Golder observed construction of the Primary Underdrain in Phase IVb for trench dimension (5' wide
by 3' deep), slope (minimum 1%), materials, and geotextile overlap. Primary Underdrain
construction met or exceeded the requirements of the specifications.
Golder observed and monitored placement of Bedding Fill (BF) in the Phase IVb PSSA for proper
location and thickness (1' deep). Golder monitored compactive effort and fmish grading to verify
conditions met specification.
Phaze Rb ^MaylLMayp, 200'a doc Golder Associates Inc.
