Abstract
On October 17 and 18, 2001, Greystone Environmental Consultants conducted a
cultural resource inventory of selected portions of a block azea for 25 proposed drill
pad locations and access roads. This inventory was conducted in the Gunnison
National Forest in Sections 10, 11, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, and 28, T13S, R90W,
Gunnison County, Colorado. The inventory was conducted for Mountain Coal
Company, LLC, West Elk Mine, Somerset, Colorado. The surveyed areas consisted
of level to gently sloping ridgetops and drainage bottoms. Areas of steep slopes,
greater than 30% grade, were excluded from the survey, and approximately 20% of
the total area was covered by pedestrian survey. The total azea of pedestrian survey
was approximately 560 acres. Vegetation varied with the setting. No cultural
resources were found. Cultural resource clearance is recommended.

MtnCoalWestElkPane1s18to24Cult(210-50)rpt.doc - it - 10/30/2001
