I have arranged my comments and questions below according to
the exhibit to which they pertain. You will note that several listed items below are simply comments,
and do not require your response. For all questions you respond to, please provide responses in the
same order so that they may be more easily reviewed and included in the application materials. The
exhibits that are not listed below are considered adequate at this time.
Exhibit A - Leal Descrirotion (Rule 6.4.11
The legal description defines a 160-acre block which, though it does not actually describe the
proposed permitted area boundary, does enclose the entire proposed 55-acre permitted area. The
actual permit boundaries are described adequately elsewhere in the application; this exhibit is
adequate.
Exhibit C -Pre-minine and Minim Plan Maros (Rule 6.4.3)
Please revise these two maps, ensuring they include the following changes: both maps need dates and
signatures of the (qualified) person preparing the maps, and the proper map titles including name and
exhibit of each map.
The Mining Plan Map, additionally, needs to be revised or corrected to include the following features
or clarifications:
(a) Arrows are needed to indicate the direction of mining, for the pit floors and the benches.
(b) The road crossing the gulch includes a culvert, but there is nothing to indicate the roadway is
raised at that location. Is it raised? Is this the only crossing of the gulch?
(c) Many of the topographic contour lines in the unmined gulch corridor between the pits and at the
edges of the pits are discontinuous, truncated or join other contours, though they should clearly tie the
onsite topography together. Especially unclear is the elevation of the gulch being higher than Pit 2,
raising the question about drainage patterns and runoff controls. Please clarify.
(d) The pit floors contain the notation "10:1 slope." A 10:1 slope will fall 100 feet through the 1000-
foot long floor. The margins of the floors, however, are delineated by a single contour line, which
indicates the floors are level. There are no contours crossing the floors, further indicating the level
floors. Please clarify.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines
