The
questions in your letter were related to protection and maintenance of the Smead Ditch (owned by
Lafarge), as we had previously proposed piping the Smead underneath the concrete disposal cell.
Based on your comments, Cemex has decided to move the location of the proposed disposal cell so as
not to impact the Smead Ditch.
Please see the attached "On-Site Disposal Cell Map Revision 2" for the revised locations of the
proposed disposal cell and stormwater diversion ditch. The proposed cell is similar is size (-10 acres)
and volume to the previous cell, with a cumulative fill volume of almost 320,000 cubic yards. This
volume is more than adequate to dispose of the approximately 80,000 cubic yards of crushed concrete,
plus liner, earth fill (including interstitial fill added to each 3 foot debris lift) and topsoil. The source and
amount of these materials are as follows:
Source i--------------------------------------,
Volume
3' Clay Liner j Purchased geosynthetic liner or clay ; 42,000 yd3
i from Dowe Flats quarry.
i ._--- - -----
3' Clay Liner + ------ ----._._... ------- ------
i Overburden from site or Dowe Flats - --_ _ _ _ _
~ 42,000 yd3
Protective Cover
I---- -----------.-_._---- ~ quarry.
--'-------....------- ------.-.-.-.-.-.-_----.__-.-.__-.....-._-..-.-_ ........
..................._..._.-.
i Interstitial Fill ~ Overburden from site or Dowe Flats ~ 27,000 yd3

i. ~ quarry. ~
'
3' Cover Above ~ 30" overburden plus 40,00 yd3overburden + I
Rubble Pile ~ 6" topsoil from site or Dowe Flats ~ 8,000 yd3topsoil ~
1 quarry. j------_.-.-..-----__._..- --------._-.-.---......-----'
Please let me know if you require additional information to approve this Technical Revision.
