<br /> <br />II. the need to intercept drainage in long and deep <br />cuts; and <br />III. the need to intercept and store loose material. <br />Where a cut or fill road slope lies outside the road <br />right-of-way, a slope easement shall be provided of <br />sufficient width to permit slope maintenance. <br />5-502 Y. Structural Section <br />The roadway structural section shall be designed on the <br />basis of a qualified engineer's analysis approved by <br />the County Engineer. At a minimum, the structural <br />section elements shall include asphalt, roadbase, and <br />subbase of the depths shown in Figures 5-lA through 5- <br />1F. <br />5-502 Z. Flexible Pavement Design <br />The California Bearing Ratio Method (CSR) and the Hveem <br />Stabilometer Method may be used. Supporting test data <br />and calculations shall accompany all requests far <br />approval of a designed structural section. <br />I. The Hveem Stabilometer Method procedure of the <br />:;, California DOT, or as outlined in the CDOT Roadway <br />`'.::?~ Design Manual, may be used. The specific regional <br />factors for San Miguel County are: <br />a. annual precipitation .5 <br />b. elevation - up to 9,500 feet 1.0 <br />over 9,500 feet 1.5 <br />c. local drainage - very poor 2.0 <br />poor 1.0 <br />fair .5 <br />good .25 <br />The required factor used shall be the sum of the <br />three factors selected. <br />II. The California Bearing Ratio Test shall be <br />performed in accordance with the procedures <br />outlined under AASHTO Designation T193-721. <br />Regardless of the pavement design method, special <br />consideration shall be given for unusual conditions <br />such as instability of fills and slopes, permeability, <br />capillary and frost heave, elasticity, and permafrost. <br />Page 5-5-23 <br />
