Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology
May 21, 1993, a technical revision application
mining operations by Rimrock Coal Company, 1391
was deemed complete for the purposes of filing
periods as provided in the Act and Regulations
from this day of filing.

The applicant proposes to revise surface coal mining operations at the Rimrock
Mine. The technical revision would change the sampling requirements at
monitoring wells from a quarterly to an annual basis. The Rimrock Strip Mine
has been backfilled, graded and the topsoil replaced.
The permit area is described as follows:
N 1/2 of Section 29, Township 33 South, Range 63 West
of the 6th P.M., in Las Animas County.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map
of Trinidad East.
Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter
previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are
requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened
or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise
protected by federal law. Applicable sections of the revision application are
enclosed. Please advise us if you require additional information.
In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that
comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology at the above
address by 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 1993. If no comments are received by this
date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no concerns with
or objections to the applicant's proposal.
