Banks and Gesso, LLC
only as much topsoil in storage for surtace reclamation as will be required to
reclaim the 68 acre surface area. The stockpiles will be broadcast seeded with a
temporary cover when stockpiles will remain in place for more than one growing
season and will be constructed with a maximum 2:1 slope.
Final Grading, Slopes and Drainage
Backfilling of the pit slopes will utilize excess topsoil/overburden salvaged during
mining and weathered shale bedrock excavated from the base of the sand and
gravel deposit. The compacted clay liner will be designed and constructed as an
impervious liner. The slurry wall and details of how it ties into the compacted
clay liner will be designed and submitted to the State Engineer's Office for
review, prior to construction. Details of the construction of the slope backfill
adjacent to the slurry wall will be included with that design.
Since the reservoirs will be used as drought protection and rarely lowered,
reclamation efforts will be for a full reservoir. Reclamation slopes for the un-lined
North Lake will correspond to the natural water level, which currently exists. All
slopes will be a maximum of 3:1 to a depth of ten feet below the anticipated
water level, transitioning to 2:1 slopes to the shale floor. Processed concrete
riprap for UD&FCD pit-side erosion protection will be covered with topsoil, prior to
seeding operations. The floor of the reservoirs and lake, and lower slopes, will
be graded relatively smooth, but no top-soiling or seeding will occur.
Brighton Mine Amendment 20 20007WD
CAMAS Colorado, INC.
