<br />the preliminary adequacy review of technical
<br />proposed adding a separate, open-channel emergency
<br />008 and minor design changes in Diversion 1. With
<br />has the following concerns:
<br />The proposed spillway for sediment pond 008 appears adequately
<br />designed.
<br />Division hydrologists cannot recommend Diversion 1 as a vegetated
<br />channel because, as such, minimum water velocities (3.7 - 7.7 feet
<br />per second) exceed limiting water velocities for the types of soils
<br />in which the diversion would be built. These velocities would be
<br />occurring prior to vegetation establishment or along areas whey?
<br />bedrock is exposed in the channel. Since this is a perimeter
<br />containment ditch, ',Ye cannot allow a situation where erosion has to
<br />manifest itself prior to lining the channel with non-erosive
<br />material. We believe it prudent at this point to build the channel
<br />as the "alternative design criteria" of Addendum 7-6f-C calls for.
