<br />J <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve with conditions Permit Renewal <br />Application No. 4, submitted by Grand Valley Coal Company for a coal mining permit at the McClane <br />Canyon Mine (Permit No. 'C-80-004). The proposed renewal will allow for continued mining and/or <br />reclamation operations at the site. <br />The McClane Canyon Mine is an underground mine located 19.5 Miles North of Loma, Colorado, <br />in Garfield County. The permit area lies to the east of State Highway 139, and encompasses <br />2,560 acres. Both leased federal coal and private coal will be extracted, and affected surface includes <br />both federal and private lands. <br />This proposed decision is based on a fmding that the proposed operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101 et seq., <br />C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision, including any stipulations, are on file for public inspection at the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the County Clerk's Office in Garfield County, 109 8th St Ste 200, <br />Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the <br />proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the <br />proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days of the initial publication of this <br />notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and <br />the objections to the proposed decision. <br />
