A 5 C I
r._...,~..y..~__ ..
' REPORT ON EVALUATION OF CYANIDE CHEMISTRY IN TAILINGS SAMPLES:
SAN LUIS PROJECT, MAY 1992
1
1. PREAMBLE

1
1
1

1
1

1

At the request of Battle Mountain Resources Company (BMRCI, ASCI has
undertaken a review of water quality, but specifically the cyanide data, from a series
of four samples collected on May 11, 1992 at various points in the tailings system
at the San Luis Project in Colorado. In particular, ASCI has focussed the review on:
" evaluating the accuracy or otherwise of the cyanide analysis, particularly
"free" and WAD cyanide analyses in this data set;
• establishing the cyanide chemistry of the tailings system, as of May 11,
1992; and
• evaluating the performance of the Cytox process which is u3ed to remove
"free" cyanide from the tailings stream.
It is important to note that this evaluation and the comments mape on cyanide
analysis apply specifically to the data set being considered here and are not
necessity applicable elsewhere.
1
1
