• • III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
David H. Getches, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
Richartl D. Lamm
Governor
MEMORANDUM
August 1986
T0: Dan Mathews ,/ ~/~C
FROM: Jim Pendleton -
RE: CYCC Permit ewal Application - Geotechnical Adequacy Comments
(Permit No: C-81-071)
Pursuant to your repeated requests, I have finally completed a review of the
CYCC permit renewal application for Energy No. 1 & 2 and Eckman Park
(Permit No: C-81-071). In completing my review I examined the applicant's
renewal application document, the existing stipulations and my geotechnical
files concerning the operation.
I have no objections to their revised "Operations Plan", "Non-Coal Wastes",
"Blasting" and "Disposal of Excess Spoil" sections of the application. I do
not believe that their "Backfilling and Grading Plan" section and the
accompanying post-mining topography, as depicted on the various maps contained
within the renewal application, represent an acceptable approximate original
contour. Many of the portions of the permit area, depicted as previously
regraded, such as Areas 9, 10 and 41, vary significantly from the originally
approved post-mining contour plan. Because I am aware that you have expended
an extensive effort in pursuing this topic, I have not prepared comments
regarding this topic.
cc: Bob Liddle
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
