OxBow Coal Mine-
Geotec hnical Investigation
Seismic Refraction Survey
Summary of Operations
• Survey 2, Spread 1
Apparent depth to bedrock along the spread increases from 10' on the south end to 42' on the north end
(upslope). A velocity of 1375ft/s for the first layer is typical of unconsolidated sediments. Bedrock
velocities are higher (6225ft/s) and indicate a competent sandstone or shale (Figure 9).
Os0ow Seismk Line SOreaE 500
61BO --
6175
~, szx sn sza n
61]0
6165 B se 9p
6160 u^
6165 ss
61$0 rn vo na ss :.
6145 sa `~.~`~
6140 sn /sn /
c 6135 ss /
_° 6130 qe
>° fi125 asmssr
w 6120 us
6n5 e, ~' V7=7375 iVs
6110 Gl 9i
6106 s
6100
6095 V2 = 6225 Ws
6090
6085
6080
0 50 100 150 200
Oisbnce lf0
Fig. 9.
