Banta.
Division Director
Mr. Mark A. Heffner
37 E. Colorado Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80210
RE: Adequacy Review of Solberg Pit Conversion, File No. M-81-044
Dear Mr. Heffner:
The Division has comple~•ted its adequacy review of the above-referenced
conversion application. We only have two corunents as follows:
1. Page 17 Topsoil Protection Mixture-Broadcast
For a broadcast miuture the Division recommends approximately 80 seeds
per square foot. You may wish to double the proposed seed rate of the
"intermediate" and pubescent wheatgrasses or, to achieve a faster cover,
you might add 15 pounds per acre of the regreen hybrid.
2. More information i:: needed to determine if the reclamation costs are
adequate.
Specifically, the regrading costs per acre can not be determined without
knowing what the back or highwall angles are prior to the beginning of
regrading, and the height of the walls. Also, will these walls be
"knocked down" or will material be brought in as backfill. If
back filling is to tte done what will the haul distance be and what volumes
of material will bey needed?
If you have any questions about our concerns please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Greyg R. S~uire ~
Reclamation Specialist
GRS/scg
cc: Steve Renner
2588E
