Long
Division Director
RE: Twenty Mile Coal Company, Foidel Creek Mine (C-82-056), Permit Revision No. 5
Deaz Ms. Nall:
Thank you for calling on December 7, 1999, to inquire about Twentymile Coal
Company's Permit Revision application for the Northern Mining District. The permittee,
Twenty-mile Coal Company, indicated that they would be mailing a copy of the complete
application to your office today. The Division is providing you copies of the last two
subsidence reports submitted by the operator for the Eastern Mining District at the Foidel
Creek Mine. As you requested, I am only sending you the report summaries and maps.
The raw subsidence measurement data aze available at your request.
During our telephone conversation you asked for some general background on this permit
revision proposal. You inquired as to the depth of the coal to be mined: The operator
reports, "The overburden thickness varies from ],100 to 1,400 feet in the corridor where
the creek [Fish Creek] passes over the mine workings." Revised page 2.05-181.6
(8/27/99). The operator predicts subsidence in the Northem Mining District to range
from 0 to 63 inches. Zero inches subsidence is predicted over the gateroads (Exhibit 7e-
3n: and Exhibit 7E-1.) Twentymile Coal Company `s estimated 2779.2 affected acres
correlates to the acreage proposed to be undermined by the Northem Mining District.
Twentymile Coal Company predicts 210 acres of the Fish Creek alluvial Valley Floor to
be affected by mining (Exhibit 4E-3).
I hope this information will help you in your determination of the mining impacts to Fish
Creek. If you do not receive the PR-OS application package from Twentymile Coal
Company within the next several days, please call me and I will follow up with the
operator on getting the information to your office. Please call me should you have any
additional questions. My direct phone number is (303) 866-4944.
3115[
Attachments
