Twentymi(e Cool Company - Foidel Creek Mine, TR04-44 TA Responses 8//2/2004
topsoil pile in the vicinity ofthe pad to contain 5.402 cubic vards ifTwentvmile is to store
roadwav topsoil at the pad, or1.452 cubic vards at the~d and 3.950 cubic vards in
storage piles along the road. If used, windrows need to be protected as topsoil storage
piles. Placement of topsoil storage piles along the road reduces haul costs associated with
reclamation.
Response: As both a construction and reclamation consideration, TCC plans to stockpile
topsoil recovered from the pad azea within the road corridor adjacent to the pad (1,452 cy).
Topsoil recovered from the road corridor (3,950 cy) will be windrowed along the southern
and eastern edge of the road, to be pulled back over the road disturbance azea during
reclamation. All topsoil stockpiles and windrows will be protected from erosion by
planting with the temporary revegetation seed mix. As appropriate, text and maps have
been revised to clearly delineate soil stockpile locations and volumes.
Item 38. Page 2.05-45.4, line 6. Please add a reference to the description ofthe
stabilization seed mixture used to protect topsoil storage piles.
Response: The text has been revised to include the requested reference.
Item 39. Page 2.05-45.4, line 11. The area of disturbance at the fan shaft is less than the
size of the watershed in which it is located. Please revise the SAE discussion to indicate a
SAE watershed of 4.3 acres but a disturbance ofX~'Y (number, as demonstrated by the
construction drawine ofltem 30) acres.
Response: The text has been revised to clarify the relative acreages for watershed and
disturbance areas.
Item 40. Page 2.05-45.4, line 14. 77te Exhibit 5 referenced was submitted as Exhibit 8T.
Please change "Exhibit 5" to read "Exhibit 8T".
Response: The text has been revised to read "Exhibit 8T."
Item 41. Page 2.05-45.4, line 19. No drainage structures were found on Map 24 as stated.
They might be better shown on the plan and profile drawings of the access road (see Item
32). Please revise accordinely.
Response: The drainage structures aze shown on Map 24, Sheet 3 of 3.
Item 42. Page 2.05-45.4. Vicinity of line 27. Criteria for cut slopes was omitted. Please add
the generalized design criteria or cut slopes as was done for fill embankments. Typical fill
and cut-slope cross-sections, including toe-of--cut-slope ditches, should also be portrayed
on the construction design drawings ofltem 32.
Response: For both the shaft pad and access road, cut slopes will be established at a
maximum of 1.SH:1 V and fill slopes at 2H:1 V. The text and maps have been revised to
reflect these design criteria.
