Twenrymile Coo! ComyanY- Foide! Creek Mine, TR04-44 TA Resyonses 8/12/2004
Response: The text has been changed to read "Exhibit 8T."
Item S0. Page 2.05-84.1, line 16. Referenced Exhibit 5 was submitted as Exhibit 8T. Please
than eg that portion that reads "Exhibit S" to read "Exhibit 8T".
Response: The text has been changed to "Exhibit 8T."
Item 51. Page 2.05-84.1. Middle of Page. Topsoil is addressed on the page. No section
regarding the I S Right Intake Ventilation Shaft and Associated Facilities was found in this
section. See item 37.
Response: This section was overlooked when preparing the original revision package. A
section addressing topsoil handling requirements for the proposed ventilation shaft has
been added to the text.
Item 52. Page 2.05-106, 05/24/04, line 17. Reclamation is required in a contemporaneous
manner. To better define the schedule of reclamation work associated with this TR, lp ease
include the criteria for a determination ofwhen the 18 Right ventilation shaft and
emer ency hoist equipment are no loneer reguired to support ongoing or future mining
operations. Rules 1.04(4)J
Response: The ventilation shaft will be utilized and will remain operational so long as
active mining operations are occurring in the mine working areas served by the shaft.
Current mining plans call for completion of mining in the east and north mining districts in
about 2010, at current production rates. The possibility exists, however, that TCC may
pursue mining operations in the Wolf Creek Coal Seam from the current workings at some
point in the future. If this were to occur, utilization of the proposed shaft and other mine
support systems could be extended to coincide with the Wolf Creek operations. Given
these considerations, the referenced text is probably appropriate and is analogous to the
timing commitments for other long-term mining facilities.
Item 53. Page 2.05-106, line 23. The Division interprets the application to a single shaft.
This line suggests more than one hole. Does this apply to the grout holes (if drilled) about
the shaft or an additional bleeder shaft? Reclamation ofall holes, openings, etc. needs to
be addressed. Please clarify.
Response: Re: the potential pressure grout holes, please refer to the previous response to
Item 46. Construction of a single ventilation shaft is proposed under this TR application.
The referenced text has been modified to clarify this and to address sealing of the potential
grout holes.
Item 54. Page 2.05-106. IS Right Ventilation Shaft (TR 04-44) section. Please include in
your application a construction plan and drawing for the reclamation o the shaft.
facilities, and area !Rule 2.05.4/2)/g)l.
Response: Please refer to the previous response to Item 45
